BLEIB MODERN + MIRM Urban Spree, Berlin am 07.11.21

2019: In an abandoned concrete factory in Berlin, amidst a stash of acrylics, we have our rehearsal

space. There, we handcraft the first incarnations of the Afraid To Leave songs, early versions of Your

Skin and Into The Night for example. The songs got crooked working titles and we are blissfully

intoxicated.

2020: Spring's EU tour is getting cancelled midway, and we don't even bother our comrade Corrado to book the next two journeys, for they wouldn't be possible any way. An American label that has shown great interest in carrying the new album bids farewell to that idea. We continue to sharpen and refine the songs in the basement of an abandoned office building. There's a vietnamese restaurant above us. Late 2020 + 2021 = 4041: Once again, it is a label from Paris that takes us in. Icy Cold Records saves the year and pays for sophisticated studio recordings. We live in Leipzig for a week, sheltered by the sound engineer Magnus. Alienation, frenzy, melancholy – the load-bearing walls of our musical house remain, but with our first proper studio recordings ever and ten hands full of maturation, new life has moved in an shines out.
